The Chemical and Biological Defense Information Analysis Center (CBIAC)

The Chemical and Biological Defense Information Analysis Center (CBIAC) is a full service Department of Defense (DoD) Information Analysis Center (IAC) sponsored by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) IAC Program Office and operated by Battelle Memorial Institute. The CBIAC’s offices are on the Edgewood Area, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The CBIAC, established in 1986, serves as the DoD focal point for information related to Chemical and Biological (CB) Defense and Homeland Security (HLS) technology.

The CBIAC offers a wide array of services, products, activities, and tools of interest to the CB Defense and HLS communities at federal, state and local levels. These include inquiry services, a resource rich website, products, and specialized CB Defense and HLS - related customer generated tasks. With the exception of our products and Technical Area Tasks (TATs), CBIAC services are provided to the CB Defense and HLS Communities without charge. This community includes Combatant Commanders; warfighters; Reserve Components; CB Defense Research, Development, and Acquisition agencies; federal, state, and local government agencies and their approved contractors. The CBIAC’s technical scope includes Chemical and Physical Properties of CB Defense Materials; Chemical Identification; Combat Effectiveness; Counter Proliferation; Counter Terrorism; Decontamination; Domestic Preparedness/Homeland Security; Environmental Fate and Effects; Force Protection; Individual and Collective Protection; Medical Effects and Treatment; Toxicology; Warning and Identification; Treaty Verification and Compliance; Smoke and Obscurants; Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Survivability; Demilitarization; International Technology, Proliferation and Arms Control; Defense Conversion and Dual-Use Technology Transfer; Analysis of Manufacturing Processes for NBC Defense Systems; and Toxic Industrial Chemicals/ Toxic Industrial Materials.
