Tom Wolfsohn is Senior Vice President, Government Affairs & Communications
for the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA),
where he directs congressional, regulatory, and state government affairs;
media relations; MOVE magazine and The Week in Review e-letter; and the
association’s web site. The Government Affairs & Communications
division staff is liaison to three association committees: Government
Affairs, Legal Services, and Public Affairs & Consumer Education (PACE).
Tom joined AAMVA in November 2001.
Prior to joining AAMVA, he was a Regional Vice President for Communications
Government & Public Affairs with Cablevision Systems Corporation,
a Fortune 500 communications and entertainment company. At Cablevision,
he directed Congressional & FCC, state, and local government affairs;
regulatory affairs; and media and community relations, in a region with
about one million customers in 179 municipalities--including emerging
telephone and high-speed modem businesses.
His background also includes service as chairman of the New Jersey Cable
Telecommunications Association, a statewide industry trade association;
member of the board of directors of Commonwealth Public Broadcasting,
licensee for the public TV and radio stations in northern Virginia, Richmond
and Charlottesville; and a gubernatorial appointee to the Virginia Public
Telecommunications Board, which approves and oversees plans for public
telecommunications services and facilities, including the Commonwealth’s
master plan.
