The General Land Office (GLO) Records Automation Program in the Bureau of Land Management-Eastern States (BLM-ES) Office maintains and protects the Secretary of the Interior’s official duplicate copies of nine million General Land Office (GLO) Records. Since 1989, the BLM-ES has been preserving and improving access to these documents through its GLO Automated Records Project. Increased demand for the records information and the preservation of the historic documents provided the impetus for the BLM-ES to automate the information and archive the documents. Many of these documents are now computerized and are accessible via the Internet at www.glorecords.blm.gov.
